Cookie policy
Effective from:
A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. Avilumen uses as few as possible: today it uses no analytics or advertising cookies.
1. Cookies we use
Technical cookies are needed for the site to work and do not require consent.
- NEXT_LOCALE (first-party, technical, session): remembers the language you chose so it does not have to ask on every page. It is deleted when you close the browser.
- Stripe cookies (third-party, technical): only set on Stripe's payment page (checkout.stripe.com), to process the payment and prevent fraud. Stripe manages them under its policy: https://stripe.com/cookies-policy/legal.
2. Cookies we do not use
We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel or any other measurement or advertising cookies. If in the future we use them to measure campaigns on Google, Meta, TikTok or YouTube, we will ask for your consent before setting them, with a notice that lets you accept or reject them, and we will update this page.
3. Third-party content
Species photographs load from Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia does not set tracking cookies when serving images, but it receives your IP address. If we embed YouTube videos, we will use privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which sets no cookies until you play the video.
4. How to manage them
You can view and delete cookies in your browser settings: Chrome https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647, Firefox https://support.mozilla.org/kb/clear-cookies-and-site-data-firefox, Safari https://support.apple.com/guide/safari/sfri11471, Edge https://support.microsoft.com/microsoft-edge. If you block the language cookie, the site keeps working and uses your browser's language.
